A reactor went 100 feet down a hole. The stock is the story.
What Deep Fission actually proved this week, and what it did not
Deep Fission announced on Wednesday that a commercial drilling crew lowered a full-size prototype reactor canister 100 feet into a borehole and brought it back up. Standard rig, standard crew, no custom equipment.
Their CEO’s line was that the important thing is what they did not have to do. No new technology. Pressurised water reactor physics that has run for decades, drilling equipment that exists today, and the novelty is only in where the reactor sits.
That is a good pitch. Read it as an analyst and two things matter more than the headline.
